Living in apple country, as soon as the air gets crisp and the apple festivals start the first thing I do is pull out this tried and true apple bread recipe. The smell of apple and cinnamon permeating your kitchen will get you giddy for fall and feel oh so cozy. Eat this apple bread with a nice warm cup of apple cider or a relaxing cup of tea.

How To Make Old Fashioned Apple Bread
- Preheat oven to 350. Grease a loaf pan and set aside.
- Cream together lard, sugar, and vanilla with an electric mixer on medium speed for 3-5 minutes or until fluffy.

3. Blend in eggs, buttermilk, all purpose flour, baking powder, salt, lemon rind, and apples until incorporated.

4. Pour the apple bread batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar.

5. Bake for one hour, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
