This recipe is just as delicious as it is effortless. So what are you waiting for? Lets get baking!
Origins Of This Pecan Pie Recipe
This recipe was my grandmother’s, passed down to me on a handwritten recipe card. My dad’s favorite pie is pecan, so making his mom’s recipe every Thanksgiving is something I delight in. I hope to pass this recipe on to my son’s future wife so that this holiday dessert can live on in our family’s hearts and memories. I would love for this recipe to find a place on your family’s holiday table and in the traditions that you create.
Recipe
1. Combine corn syrup, sugar, salt, butter, corn starch, and pure vanilla extract in a medium or large mixing bowl. Mix well. Add in 2 slightly beaten eggs and mix.
2. Pour your filling into an unbaked 9″ pie shell.
3. Arrange pecan halves over the top of the pie filling.
4. Bake at at 350 degrees for approximately 45-55 minutes.
How to Tell When a Pecan Pie is Done
The internal temperature should be 200 degrees when fully cooked. The pie should have a slight wobble, like pudding, but shouldn’t be “sloshy.” The filling will continue to set as the pie cools. Let the pie cool completely before cutting.
Little Cooks Corner
Tiny sous chefs in training of any age can assist and work on fine motor skills by mixing the ingredients and placing the pecans on top of the pie. Older kiddos can also help by measuring ingredients and pouring the filling into the pie shell.
