Ice Skating Sensory Activity – A Fine Motor Skills Sensory Bin
This ice skating sensory activity is perfect for all seasons. Utilize this fun activity on a snow day by leaving the characters and water tub outside in the snow to freeze, or cool down on a hot summer day by sticking your characters and water in the freezer. This activity is such a fun, easy, and adorable way to practice fine motor skills.
The Benefits Of Sensory Bins
Sensory bins are an excellent way to keep little ones’ minds and imagination busy when they’re feeling restless or bored. That’s why I love this activity for cold, rainy days and snow days. Sensory bins help teach fine motor skills, encourage independent play, and support creativity and imagination.
How To Put Together This Ice Skating Sensory Activity
1. Start by filling a long, shallow tub with water.
2. Fill the cavities of a cupcake tin with water, about halfway full. Stand up some plastic characters in the cupcake tins.

3. Put the lid on your tub of water and place your tub of water and cupcake tin in the freezer (or outside if the temperatures are below freezing).

4. Once the water is frozen, flip your cupcake tin upside down and run a bit of warm water over the bottom to loosen up your toys and get them out.

5. Take the lid off of your frozen water.
6. Let your little one ice skate across the frozen bin with his or her favorite characters.
