This hearty, soft on the inside, easy beer bread recipe is so simple to throw together for a last minute side dish or get together.
Years ago I found this beer bread recipe tucked away in my mom’s recipe box. This was the first bread recipe I ever used and its simplicity makes an easy success for first time bread bakers or for experienced bakers short on time. I often make this as a side dish to bring when we are invited to dinner with friends last minute, or as an easy and hearty side dish for black eyed peas with collard greens, stews, soups, and chili. It has become a quick and easy staple in our household.
A Note on Beer Varieties for this Easy Beer Bread Recipe
You don’t want to use a really hoppy beer, like an IPA, for beer bread. It will give your bread a bitter taste. Stick to light and refreshing beers like a hefeweizen or Belgian white. We like to experiment with my husband’s home brews and different varieties of craft beers for this recipe, but Blue Moon is the best widely available budget option that I’ve found.
How To Make It
Preheat your oven to 350. Grease a loaf pan and set aside. In a large bowl, whisk together 370 grams (3 cups) of all purpose flour, 21 grams (4 1/2 tsp) baking powder, and 5 grams (3/4 tsp) of salt.

Next, pour in 1 (12 oz) can or bottle of beer and 100 grams (1/2 cup) of sugar. Mix thoroughly.

Pour your batter into your prepared loaf pan and bake for 55 minutes.
