Lintukoto (LIN-too-koh-toh) is a Finnish word which literally means “bird’s nest.” Lintukoto symbolizes a safe space, a haven from the outside world. Join me as I create a lintukoto for my little family using vintage recipes and Montessori parenting techniques.

how I got Here
Why I Love What I Do
When I was first learning how to cook as a young adult I often relied on Pinterest for recipes. What I kept coming up against were recipes with lengthy ingredient lists, expensive and specialty grocery lists, and complicated steps. That’s when I discovered the treasure trove of my grandmothers’ vintage recipes. I used the recipes from my mom and grandparents to teach myself how to cook. I found vintage recipes to be accessible, with easy instructions and common sense pantry staple ingredients, and I fell in love. Over time I adapted some of these tried and true recipes to better fit my life, with the use of the Instant Pot or other modern conveniences. We’ve developed new creations and family traditions around these recipes. I hope to share my love for vintage, budget friendly, tried and true family recipes with your family. I would love to see our family traditions in the kitchen shared in your home and with your family.
My primary career background is in Education and I hold a degree in English Education. I have taught at the secondary level in the public school system as well as worked with grades K-12 in a nonprofit capacity. I love Montessori methods that teach children independence, autonomy, and creativity. I often incorporate these practices into my own home as I raise my son. I believe in slow, intentional family living and I welcome you to join me as we slow down and become more mindful in our parenting choices.

Mission Statement

At Lintukoto Homestead, my mission is to create a gentle refuge for families who want to slow down and live more intentionally. Rooted in my grandmothers’ vintage, budget-friendly recipes, this space celebrates simple cooking with pantry staples, practical methods, and time-tested traditions. By blending these tried-and-true family recipes with modern tools like the Instant Pot—and weaving in Montessori-inspired parenting and mindful family living—I aim to empower families to cook with confidence, nurture independence, and build meaningful traditions in the heart of the home.
Whether you’re looking for comforting vintage recipes, practical budget-friendly meals, or gentle guidance on raising independent, capable children, you are welcome here. Lintukoto is a place of warmth, safety, and care. Join me as I create a haven for my family and invite you to do the same in your home.
